Everyone’s path is different
We give students the care and attention they need to discover hope and opportunity as they forge their own path toward personal growth and achievement.
“I am capable of being an amazing student.
They made me have hope and believe in myself.”
– recent Riverside School graduate
When the traditional school setting can’t meet an adolescent’s academic and social/emotional needs, moving to a right-fit school, outside the district, may be the best path for the student, family and school. Riverside School provides a comprehensive, individualized approach to academic and personal growth, when it matters most. With small class sizes, a safe, close-knit community, and therapy and life skill development built into the curriculum, we actively support our students on their path to a strong sense of identity, self-confidence, and academic achievement.

Students can be themselves. Often, for the first time, they can shed the weight of the struggles that hinder their personal growth and achievement, that make fitting in socially stressful and too difficult to bear. Here, all students are welcome and celebrated for their uniqueness. We help students build confidence and discover their self-worth. We work on developing coping and self-management skills they need to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
Parents see their child will be happy here. Really. Sometimes, it’s impossible to imagine a path forward, let alone seeing your child grow and thrive. Here, it happens. We welcome students, providing them with the community and individual care and attention they need to find their path. Our small class size of eight students in each location allows us to personalize the appropriately challenging and supportive environment your student deserves.
Referring districts know we’re the right fit for the right student. We don’t accept just anyone. Fit is critical. Our small, calm, intimate setting is the ideal out–of-district placement for students whose mental health hurdles make a public school setting overwhelming and impede their academic growth. Our curriculum is designed around each student’s strengths and needs, and aligns with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Our team is accessible, responsive, and works hand-in-hand with the referring school’s IEP team to help each student reach their academic goals and prepare for life’s challenges as they work and strive for independent success.
“At Riverside School I regained my interest in learning.
I learned to advocate for myself and made lifelong friendships.”
